Into the New Year

Hope the weather isn’t too bad where you are. It’s cold and a bit bleak in the midlands, but we’re still able to go to work. And I’ve been to the gym three times last week. How is it that you can take months to get fit and then after two weeks of mince pies, chocolates and other food, you’re almost a stone heavier? So it’s back to the green tea for a while. Good job I like it.green tea

Do you want to be a pocket novelist? If so, the only way to know exactly what the editor is looking for is to read some. Or preferably, subscribe. I’ve recently become a subscriber, so now I get those lovely handbag novels delivered to my door. The stories are really good, if you like a longer story where you stay with great and exciting characters. Look out for a follow up to Country Matters coming towards the end of March/early April. You can see the opening chapters on my website if you’re interested. Though I’ve edited it a bit since then so it won’t be exactly the same. Another bonus to being a subscriber is getting these wonderful books at half price, and you don’t have to go driving round to find one.

It’s time now to clear out your wardrobe. That’s me talking to myself. To say it’s a bit messy would be an understatement. But seeing as I had some new clothes for Christmas, it’s about time to sort and chuck out, or send to the charity shop. But if I’m anything like my mum, she recently tried to have a clear out, and ended up getting rid of one dress, which she gave to me. It was actually mine about twenty years ago and I gave it to her. A red velvet classic. I may do pictures of before and after the closet clearance, but please prepare yourselves as it’s not a site for the squeamish among you.

This grey and white jumper is one I’ll keep because I knitted it myself and it’s good with a thin jumper underneath and goes with jeans, trousers or a skirt.

Have a great weekend, and more on the wardrobe clearance soon.

Happy New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017

Wishing everyone who follows my blog, and other places, a very Happy New Year – 2017.

It doesn’t seem a minute since last time does it? We’re still relaxing after Christmas and enjoying the mid-winter break, even though we didn’t actually have much time off work. It’s always good to spend time with family though, and catch up with reading. Now I’m making plans for a new romantic story. It’s going to take place in South Wales, Jamaica, and Torbay.

And, remember that follow up to Redington I was telling you about? Well that is now going to be published as a pocket novel, so watch out for news of when that will be in the shops. Also, I’m now a subscriber to Pocket Novels. They’re such handy books to pop in your handbag or backpack that I don’t want to miss any. Saves going round the shops as well to see if I can find one.

Now I feel a cup of tea and a mince pie coming on. Back to the gym next week, so I’ll make the most of this lovely-lazy time.

Riviera days

Just back from a few days in the English Riviera.

This time we found time to go on the Torquay Eye, that’s the view from the top.

We also had chance to check up on the country estate, it was in a bit of a state, but the gardens are fabulous. Anybody know where it is? Well worth a look around to see how elaborate the building is and the gardens are spectacular with a team working on them all year round.

To this is the house, and these are the gardens… isn’t it fab? And talking about fab, this was the treat to end a lovely few days. (Below)

Sunny Afternoon was opening in the Princess theatre, Torquay on the last night of our hols.

The story of how the Kinks began and their rise to fame, and how they got banned from America after a short time. Great music and towards the end, the cast of young people who had danced and sang the story took a bow and the Kinks played Lola, sunny afternoon, dedicated follower of fashion and lots more. The whole thing was written and narrated by Ray Davies, lead singer. Well worth the price of the tickets, and those songs stay in your mind for quite a while.. La la la Lola, la la la la Lo – oh la… and days is one of my fave songs as well. This was the same ending we saw, only ours was better.. Go and see it if you get chance. Have a great week. I’m working on my third pocket novel.

Hats off to Love

In the shops this weekend.

hats-pocket-novel Hope you enjoy the story if you get chance to find one.

This is the new kindle cover and actual book cover for A Factory Affair.

cover.jpgThis is the kindle one.

And there’s the paperback one, but details are on the spine with the finished one of course. This should be available when proof has been checked. Watch this space to find out when and where… And I might do a blog giveaway.

Updating facebook

Sue and Alan weddingHere’s our wedding photo from 2008. The reason I’m putting this here is because when I updated Facebook to put that I’m married, it immediately assumed I meant we’d got married on that day. So it doesn’t know much does it?

I’m 12,000 words into the next book in the Redington/Country Matters series. This one’s a murder mystery, and it’s a bit of a mystery to myself what’s going to happen next. I’ve got to that stage, and I’m always reading two or three books at the same time, but I want to know what happens next in my own book more than the ones I’m reading, so better get on with it:))

The new job is going well, and so far I haven’t been late, nor broken anything, or turned up in the wrong part of the building to what I should be in, so fingers crossed. I did switch the alarm off one morning and said, ‘just another ten minutes’ which turned out to be half an hour and I got out of bed at the time I normally leave the house. I still put on make up and got dressed and grabbed an apple for the journey and made it with about a minute to spare. Phew!!

Here’s a couple of fun pictures of our secret agent sun-flower checking what’s going on over the hedge, and Mr Doughnut to tell you to stick to the diet, but not on Sundays.

Have a great week whatever you may be doing.

Newsflash.

Just noticed I’ve got another review for Redington on Amazon. Have a look here, and thank you Linda for a smashing review.

Something Special

Country Matters picLook what just landed on the doormat. How lovely and now I’m off to the garden with a cuppa and a ham and mustard cob to read through.

I’ve started a new job this week, and getting into the swing of it. The people are friendly and the hours still give me time to go the the gym. What a fantastic cover they’ve chosen. Is it bad to say you can’t wait to read your own book even if you know what’s in it:)) It’s dated the 28th July, so will be in the shops soon. Hope you enjoy it if you buy and read it.
