Springtime

Are you seeing signs of springtime around and about? Here’s a few pictures I captured in the garden earlier that show it’s only a matter of time before we have an explosion of colour and prettiness abound.

Hope you enjoy the array of springtime flowers.

Do you remember I was going to have a wardrobe chuck-away? Well I have thrown lots away, and taken pics of things I’m keeping to see what I’ve got and what I need to buy, if anything. Jeans and a top would be good, also maybe some new gym gear. Didn’t realise how many floral dresses I have, but it’s obvious how much I adore vintage clothing, and I quite like the boho look with things like this.

pict0082.jpgpict0083.jpgThis top and skirt always feel special and go great with black boots.

I also like knitted jumpers, here’s one (in red) I made earlier. I’m lucky as our Mum loves knitting and keeps me supplied with some classical creations. The blue one is called Miss Marple, so I might be on the trail looking for clues later this week.

pict0057.jpgI found this in a vintage shop in town and had money knocked off because the lady knows our Son, good to have friends in the right places. I wear it with this jacket.

pict0068.jpgA pair of wedges in the same colour and a bright pink belt tops it all off.

And… the winner of the book giveaway is… the lovely, Rosemary Gemmell.

Well done, and thanks to all who entered. The book will be on it’s way to you early in the week, Rosemary.

Have a great week, and enjoy the springtime.

Why have a subscription?

pocket-novels

First of all, you will have these pocket novels delivered to your door every month. I had the bottom two today and can’t wait to read them.

Second, if you’re aiming to write a pocket novel and get it published, the only way to know what the editor wants is to read what she is accepting and publishing.

Thirdly, the stories are exciting, romantic, good fun and enormously entertaining and don’t take up a huge space in your handbag.

An added bonus is the collection of puzzles at the back of the book to keep your mind sharp after enjoying the story. And you’ll get the books at less than half price.

So if you want to have a supply of great reads, puzzles and never have to worry if there’s going to be one left in the shops. Subscribe today.

One more… You get a free gift. It changes quite often, but I had the tea caddy holding a pack of English Breakfast tea bags and they’re lovely.

How great to spend a cosy night by the fire reading the latest pocket novel, while thinking up ideas for another one. My latest pocket novel will be four books away from these. Not long…

Have a happy Sunday, and a good week ahead.

Into the New Year

Hope the weather isn’t too bad where you are. It’s cold and a bit bleak in the midlands, but we’re still able to go to work. And I’ve been to the gym three times last week. How is it that you can take months to get fit and then after two weeks of mince pies, chocolates and other food, you’re almost a stone heavier? So it’s back to the green tea for a while. Good job I like it.green tea

Do you want to be a pocket novelist? If so, the only way to know exactly what the editor is looking for is to read some. Or preferably, subscribe. I’ve recently become a subscriber, so now I get those lovely handbag novels delivered to my door. The stories are really good, if you like a longer story where you stay with great and exciting characters. Look out for a follow up to Country Matters coming towards the end of March/early April. You can see the opening chapters on my website if you’re interested. Though I’ve edited it a bit since then so it won’t be exactly the same. Another bonus to being a subscriber is getting these wonderful books at half price, and you don’t have to go driving round to find one.

It’s time now to clear out your wardrobe. That’s me talking to myself. To say it’s a bit messy would be an understatement. But seeing as I had some new clothes for Christmas, it’s about time to sort and chuck out, or send to the charity shop. But if I’m anything like my mum, she recently tried to have a clear out, and ended up getting rid of one dress, which she gave to me. It was actually mine about twenty years ago and I gave it to her. A red velvet classic. I may do pictures of before and after the closet clearance, but please prepare yourselves as it’s not a site for the squeamish among you.

This grey and white jumper is one I’ll keep because I knitted it myself and it’s good with a thin jumper underneath and goes with jeans, trousers or a skirt.

Have a great weekend, and more on the wardrobe clearance soon.

Happy New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017

Wishing everyone who follows my blog, and other places, a very Happy New Year – 2017.

It doesn’t seem a minute since last time does it? We’re still relaxing after Christmas and enjoying the mid-winter break, even though we didn’t actually have much time off work. It’s always good to spend time with family though, and catch up with reading. Now I’m making plans for a new romantic story. It’s going to take place in South Wales, Jamaica, and Torbay.

And, remember that follow up to Redington I was telling you about? Well that is now going to be published as a pocket novel, so watch out for news of when that will be in the shops. Also, I’m now a subscriber to Pocket Novels. They’re such handy books to pop in your handbag or backpack that I don’t want to miss any. Saves going round the shops as well to see if I can find one.

Now I feel a cup of tea and a mince pie coming on. Back to the gym next week, so I’ll make the most of this lovely-lazy time.

Family time

We had fun today, opening presents with Ann and Sophie as they’re going to her other gran and grandad’s for Christmas Day.

sophie-today Here is the must have p’j’s – clangers and the unicorn handbag for all the best dressed girls about town.

And in the middle picture, pink fluffy marshmallow dressing gown for when a young lady is chilling on the settee.

Speaking of the settee, no day is complete without jumping off the back and rolling on to the floor.

boinging-aroundme-and-annus and Sophie.jpgAny time spent with loved ones is special, it doesn’t have to wait until a certain date on the calendar. Enjoy Christmas, and don’t forget to tell people who matter that you love them. Now I think it’s time I found something yummy to eat. Happy Christmas.

Happy Birthday – Dad 80 today

wp_20161204_13_42_09_prowp_20161204_13_48_35_pro856

When your Dad has his 80th birthday, it’s a good reason to do a blog post.

There’s me and Sister Sal with Mom and Dad helping him to eat his lovely cake and sharing a cup of tea. We, or rather, I tried doing a photo of us all together but it turned out rubbish, so two separate ones makes more sense.

He said he doesn’t feel 80, and now he’s recovered after having a new knee, he’s raring to go again.

We’ve got our tree up, but not decorated yet. That will be tomorrow, as I’m busy reading Tracey’s pocket novel – it’s Scary Mary – and that new writing book by Patsy and Rosemary which is really good.

Our old gas fire has gone now and there’s a toasty new heating system in. Now we’ve got a smashing flower arrangement, one Mom did earlier, in the gap and plenty of room for Santa to come down the chimney as well.

Have a great week, whatever you might be doing.

Don’t trifle with me

I’ve made one of my own. Reason being, we had some banana loaf that needed eating. It’s now the base of the trifle with some blackberry jam on. Then a layer of mandarins, red jelly and custard, with the topping you see here.

trifle

One good thing about the weather getting colder, is that we have a real fire. There’s nothing like watching real flames and warming your hands by the fire with a cup of tea and a huge bowl of trifle. The diet can wait until tomorrow.

fire-pic Now I’m working on the next chapter of my latest book and loving it. Still reading through A Factory Affair as well, ready for the release of the paperback. We’ve had some good walks lately through woodlands where fallen leaves were ankle deep, only I didn’t take the phone or camera. Sometimes It’s good to enjoy the moment and forget about camera phones and all things media related.

Enjoy your week, whatever you may be doing, and to anyone doing nanowrimo, keep writing. I didn’t sign up for it, but doing lots of writing all the same.
